Bill is a figurative artist , his life drawings are edgy and sometimes uncomfortable, collaborations between himself and his model. His paintings however, are pure invention.. light, movement and tension.. he’s an anatomist, inventing the figure, moving it in his head and on the canvas, visualising the movements and changes as he works, capturing light where it is, was, and where it’s going to be.
His commercial work includes clients as big as United & Industrious PLC as well as making quirky contributions to his local pub, The Bell in Ticehurst.
He’s most known for his challenging pieces on Female Genital Mutilation. One piece in particular , a blood stain in the shape of Africa, below the silouette of a 6years olds feet, made a lot of waves across the globe.
The site puts the art at the forefront, kepping all the UI elements to a greyscale tone and out of the way and bringing images in focus through colour upon interaction. It also includes a handy tag index to search for works through associated tags.
As a technological luddite, we built Bill a custom administration section with Angular.js to walk him through input of his data which interacts through REST with the Drupal CMS – not the most friendly to those non-techies.
